Back in 2007 Diane von Furstenberg decided that it was the time to use a model rather then herself for an upcoming campaign and turned to her friend of three decades, François-Marie Barnier, the artist and photographer behind these unique creations, for help. She also choose Natalia Vodianova to be the model and pose for an intimate story photographed in both New York and Paris. There was no make-up artist or a stylist – Natalia chose all the clothes herself and posed bare-faced.
The result is a true art form where 50 photographs transform into paintings filled with a colourful rainbow of emotions. Here are some of my favourite images from the campaign and you can see more in Barnier’s book, Vive la Vie.
I’ve also included a behind the scenes video for an extra dose of fashion magic.
