Just a few minutes ago we were in a car driving home after a long walk with Oscar, when the song came up on a radio. It was Whitney Houston’s Saving all my love for you. The melody took me back to 1986 when I first heard it… My mum just got a vinyl version of the singers’ first album and we played it so often that the flat seem lifeless whenever the music stopped. Whitney was the very first artist who made me, an admirer of Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Mozart, believe that there’s more in this life than classical music and it’s actually pretty good. She made me fall in love with her songs, her incredible amazing voice that sounded like clean spring water and it was her album that I used a few years later trying to improve my English. I sang along whenever I felt happy and sad, I played I will always love you as a medicine that got me through my first heartbreak and watched The Bodyguard whenever I needed a dose of romance.
All this went through my mind as the song was playing on a radio, but the news I heard next felt like a blow in a head – Whitney Houston died last night in her hotel room.
I’m struggling to believe that she is gone. I find it so unfair to lose such a talented beautiful person and make her a part of my memories rather than reality.
R.I.P.

It was 10:00pm 10 years ago when my plane landed in Heathrow. Outside was dark, a few lights twinkling here and there as if something magical was about to happen. The entire experience felt surreal. And then I saw my darling man waiting for me, walked towards him, buried my happy face in his chest and everything became normal, just the way it should be. He took me back to his place. I stepped inside. There on a coffee table were the latest issues of Vogue, Elle and Marie Claire and a bouquet of beautiful English roses. I knew I was home.

Seriously, where did the week go? This question comes up almost every Saturday and yet I seem to fail to slow down the time. Perhaps, this is part of the reason why I always feel a little tired comes weekend.
So are you enjoying the fashion week? I was so excited about day one and my discovery of Michael Angel. I can’t seem to get those clothes out of my head. I think I am obsessed (a little) and need to find a way to distract my poor brain before it explodes.
I was also surprised to see an editorial from the July issue of Vogue Spain 2011 featuring Crystal Renn who looked positively slim. Google supported me by providing a recent article about Crystal’s weight loss.
You know what made me jump and say “Ah-ha!”? Allow me to quote: Crystal “insists that the pound fell off naturally as she began to take a healthier approach to life.” So now I want to question all those editors who said that she was already healthy etc. as a plus-size model – at what point they believe in their own words or did they just want to be more popular by saying those things?
I actually like Crystal whatever size she is, but I’ve always maintained that a healthy person (the one who is following a healthy balanced diet and is truly healthy – apparently there are a lot of people who never get to experience that) is hardly ever overweight and here is yet another proof. I particularly enjoy my brownie points right now because Crystal, who is no longer a plus size model, has crossed to the other side that, as we are often told by the same magazine editors etc., is the “unhealthy one”. I rest my case. Yet again. The thing is, you cannot fool Mother Nature – if one eats badly or the diet is simply unbalanced, one is likely to gain weight and once the diet is back to normal, the weight loss will follow.
Changing the subject now. Yesterday I found out that Scott Schuman will be releasing his second book in a few months. A big Thank you to Ada who mentioned it on her blog and put a smile on my face.
Another thing that I loved was an article on Vogue website with plenty of beautiful photos of Chanel Spring Couture 2012 collection taken inside the atelier while those stunning pieces were designed and made. Looks a bit like magic.
And that’s about it for now. I suspect we will be spending a lot of our weekend at home as the roads are frozen and a long trip somewhere nice may not happen. So it’s going to be warm, cosy, DVD and cookies kind of weekend here and I would like to wish you a good one, too.
Always yours,

I love mornings like this: magical snow-frosted winter wonderland outside, a cup of green tea and a piece of very dark chocolate as a treat and an array of gorgeous designs by Michael Angel.
The only problem I have with this collection is my total inability to select just a few looks because, frankly, I love every single one of them. Not too long ago a total virgin when it comes to prints, I am now falling in love with watercoloured graphics – some resembling oversized splinters of a dream or blurred sound waves and others looking like rainbow lights trapped inside precious cabochons. I adore the chunky knits (which would be very easy and quick to recreate at home with some Rowan merino wool), dresses, sharp jackets, impeccably tailored coats that are kind of sporty, but not to the point of being too “fitnessy”, shoes, a feminine hairband that adds softness and playfulness to every look… And lets not forget a gorgeous palette of cool greys, deep rich plums, frozen blues and soft greens not only because these are my favourite colours, but also because they look incredible here.
That’s a wonderful thing about fashion – it’s all about being inspired by and falling in love with the new while letting your heart beat a bit faster while anxiously waiting for the old favourites to show up.
